I would keep a running note book and mark them all on onx


red for active traps that must be checked

yellow for deactivated traps, but still there and need set or picked up

blue for trapped out spots I want to return to later

green for possible future trapping spots


something like that, anyways that's what I was gonna do with trail cameras if I started running a ton of them

I definitely think it’s easier now with waypoints and gps.   Hats off to the old timers running lines.   Like you said, that’s a lot of skinning

He's doing all traps and 90% dirtholes on a 24 hour check I understand. How many traps    I bet less than 20 locations at one time though.

I have at times had out around a 100 sets and it is not that hard to remember them. I might have to check my notebook on the first check but after that not much problem remembering. I have found myself going to places I had puled out of already. More of a problem than forgetting sets.

exactly ! A note pad still works great ! Even in January when I have 30-40  cages out and a couple nuisance jobs going it’s a handful to keep everything straight

I have had anywhere from 100-180 sets out before and rarely forget where. I still kept a notebook. It’s also nice for notes on catches on what baits and lures

Ive been struggling hunting thick timber mountain coyotes.  It aint easy.  Screw 1000, let me get 20 this year ill be stoked.  Im about to swallow my pride and go knock on ranchers / farmers doors in the lowlands in prime yote habitat.  Got a couple places in mind i want to ask permission.  Also considering driving down south to the sage country.  I hear the blm land in benge is chock full of dogs.  I think i need to go learn coyote vocals in an area with more dogs, and more open visibility to more easily defeat dogs circling for wind

When food is plentiful in the lowlands around ranches and farms I see few coyote tracks on surrounding ridges. Many apple trees didn't get picked due to frost damage and I see coyotes in the orchards eating apples all the time.
